Electrical Inspection Forms Now Available

NECA has been working urgently on developing an appropriate form for use when testing a foil insulation installation.

This has now been approved by the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts and is available for use. It is now on the Department’s website at http://www.environment.gov.au/eehp/electrical-safety/electricians.html.

Information for electricians

NECA is working with the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts at various levels and is seeking for the testing procedures to be mandated so all electrical contractors are using consistent methods to ensure safety to both the inspecting electricians and householders.

The link below provides information and a factsheet for licensed electrical contractors undertaking assessments of homes installed with foil insulation under the Australian Government's Home Insulation Program.

 Information for consumers

As a consumer, it is important that you have the right information and an appropriately qualified electrician when registering for a free home insulation test.

Follow these simple steps:

1. Call the Federal Government Foil Insulation Hotline on 131 792 and get the right information and reference number.

2. Use NECA’s Find an Electrician to ensure you get a qualified electrician.

3. Provide the NECA electrician with your reference number and pay nothing.

4. The NECA electrician will receive payment direct from the Government.
